PCS Aviation Group representatives are working extremely hard to protect jobs, pay and terms and condition in spite of the enormous pressures that the COVID-19 crisis is placing on the industry.
NATS CEO Martin Rolfe sent an email to all NATS staff at the weekend which mentioned several measures that management is considering taking in light of the Coronavirus and its impact on the aviation industry.
Members in the aviation group will be aware of the huge downturn iin air traffic, and the likelihood of that situation continuing for the foreseeable future. PCS is aiming to protect its members through this very difficult period.
On 3 March, representatives from the DfT and Aviation groups were in the House of Commons to jointly launch a new report commissioned by PCS, Alternative vision for Transport, authored by Professor Roger Seifert and Dr Steven French.
Members in the aviation group may be experiencing mixed feelings as regards the UK appeal court ruling that the Heathrow third runway is incompatible with Paris climate change commitments. Mixed in that we are all concerned about the future of the planet, but we also need job security and may feel this decision to be a threat. Both aspects of that are perfectly understandable.
