PCS has entered into further talks with DWP to extend the one hour flexi credit for members who are having to travel into their offices during the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic beyond 31 July.
PCS pressed the department and made clear our view that all of the reasons that justified awarding the credit originally are still as relevant
DWP have now announced that the ET has agreed to extend the travel time flexi credit arrangement until 31st August, saying that this is to recognise the continued exceptional efforts of colleagues who are travelling to offices.
PCS welcomes management’s recognition of the contribution that has been made by our members who have risked their lives by travelling to, and attending, their workplace throughout this pandemic.
PCS will continue to work to ensure DWP workplaces are as safe as possible, but by making DWP concede to this additional flexi credit we have shown the value of a strong trade union in the work place.
Regrettably this additional flexi credit does not at present apply to our members who are employed by the Brook Street Agency. PCS will again approach DWP to demand that the credit is also awarded to the Brook Street staff.
