Sad news: death of Tony Reay

23 Apr 2020

It is with deepest regret that we have to report that former long-standing PCS Representative, Tony Reay, has passed away following a long illness.

Prior to leaving DWP, Tony had been PCS DWP London Regional Secretary for many years, and had served at various levels in both PCS, and previously CPSA, including on the DWP group executive committee.

Tony was a passionate defender of workers’ rights, and represented members with great commitment. He was a regular attendee at group and national conference, speaking on many occasions, always with sincerity and often with great wit. Tony was greatly respected by his peers across the political lines.

Tony had suffered serious ill health for a number of years, but continued to work tirelessly to represent members. He took ill health retirement at the end of 2018.

We offer our sincere condolences to his friends and family and former union colleagues. He will be sadly missed by anyone who ever had the privilege of meeting him.
