From the secretary

I am a member of the DWP Group Executive Committee (GEC) and the appointed secretary to the young members' advisory committee (YMAC). My role is to support the committee and ensure key issues are escalated to the group executive, the annually-elected body responsible for anything DWP related; such as organising, campaigning on key issues and negotiating with the department at directorate and departmental level.

We are pleased to have the DWP young members' newsletter back up and running.  This is a very important time in our union.  We have a number of ongoing campaigns at the moment, including the office closures and the pay campaign, which we hope many of you would already be involved with! The recent pay ballot results are out where the PCS has achieved one of its best ever results with 80% of staff voting for action on a 49% turnout. PCS is now taking this to the other public sector unions with a view to stepping up the campaign.

We’ve lots going on within the union and this newsletter sets out some of the many exciting things young members are doing across the DWP. We want you to join and get involved, so contact us today to talk about how you can join the fight for young people.
