Since 2010 civil service pay has experienced pay freezes, pay caps and other kinds of restraints.
PCS and Prospect have been in discussions with NE management about this year’s pay award.
Pay talks ended on 10 October. Since then we have written to the Permanent Secretary trying to reopen discussions but have yet to receive a reply.
The Efra group executive committee has been given details of the pay offer and we have asked for negotiations to be reopened.
We are disappointed that negotiations have concluded and Defra has decided to impose their offer as we believe that there was little actual negotiation in this process.
