The PCS LGBT Members' Seminar will be held at the Novotel in Leeds on the 28-29 October 2017.
The theme will be “Past, Present and Future, Campaigning for LGBT Rights”.
Registration will open at 11.30am on Saturday 28 October, with lunch at 12 noon and the seminar starting at 1pm. The seminar will finish no later than 1pm on Sunday 29 October.The seminar will seek to empower, educate and encourage greater participation from Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender members and will integrate PCS campaigning and organising priorities with the focus on challenges faced by PCS LGBT members.
A variety of speakers, workshops and discussion group sessions will be spread across the weekend. This seminar is organised in conjunction with Proud, the voice of LGBT member in PCS.
The seminar is aimed at LGBT members who are newly active or who would like to become more active in PCS. Applications are positively welcomed from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender who are disabled, women, black or young members, who are often under-represented at union events and through our democratic structures. PCS fully appreciates there may be special sensitivities linked to disability, gender identity and sexual orientation, so all applications will be treated confidentially.
Hotel accommodation and meals will be arranged by PCS. PCS will meet the costs of reasonable travel, including those for carers. All reasonable access requirements will be met as far as possible.
Childcare facilities will be provided for children between the ages of 6 months and 14 years, however places are limited and by submitting an application it will not automatically guarantee a place for your child(ren). Delegates are encouraged to make alternative arrangements where possible and PCS will cover the costs of reasonable childcare claims on production of a receipt from a registered carer.
The process is for members to nominate themselves and submit an application form including a supporting statement detailing why they wish to attend, this information forms part of the selection criteria.
Please also note all successful applicants are required to attend for the entire duration of the seminar.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Thursday, 5 October 2017. Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday, 11 October.
