TUC LGBT+ Conference 2020 - delegate nomination form

Nominations for the PCS delegation to the 2020 TUC LGBT+ Conference are now open.

All nominations must be received no later than noon, Friday 11th October in order to be accepted.

Alternatively nominations can also be posted to PCS Proud, ℅ PCS Equality Dept, 160 Falcon Road, London, SW11 2LN, contact proud@pcs.org.uk if you require a physical nomination form.

Nominations are particularly encouraged from Proud members within PCS’ fellow equality structures to ensure our delegation is representative of PCS’ wider membership.

Nominations are open to all full Proud members on a self-nomination basis, nominations can also be made on behalf of a fellow Proud member however please ensure to confirm your selected candidate is willing to accept your nomination prior to submission.

Held each year, this conference brings together LGBT+ workers from across the UK to discuss the issues facing the UK and global LGBT+ community, as well as participate in a range of debates and workshops to build the knowledge and skills of LGBT+ workers to take back to their workplace.

Dates for the conference are, as yet, unconfirmed but traditionally takes place the Thursday/Friday prior to Pride in London, normally the first weekend of July. Successful delegates will also be expected to attend a delegation meeting the Wednesday prior to Conference. Costs for travel and accommodation will be met by PCS centrally.

PCS will have a delegation of no more than 6 members.

In accordance with rule 17 of the current PCS Proud Constitution:

17. The number of delegates will be defined by the NEC. The delegation should represent a 50/50 male/female gender split, and voting on delegates of either gender will not be necessary unless nominations for that gender exceed 50% of the agreed total delegates. The delegation should also where possible include one disabled member, one black member and one trans member.

Nominations are also encouraged from under-represented members within the wider spectrum of LGBT+ community, eg. asexual, non binary.

Nominees may provide an election statement of no more than 400 words, in the event that a ballot is required to elect the 2020 TUC LGBT+ Conference delegation.

For an election statement to be accepted it must be submitted in this format, statements not submitted in this format will be ruled invalid.
