In the UK, more than 120,000 people of working age are diagnosed with cancer each year. Work is important for many people with cancer or caring for someone with cancer, for lots of reasons. Going to work can give a sense of normality to their life, and can also help with recovery.

Trade unions play an important role in supporting people with cancer and their careers. This course provides an introduction for reps on:

  • Providing support to members with cancer
  • Understanding reasonable adjustments to the workplace or working patterns
  • Raising awareness of cancer issues in the workplace
  • The legal obligations of the employer.
