PCS is stepping up our campaigning activities this autumn so that all areas where we organise achieve a decent pay rise. This includes putting pressure on the government to break the 1% pay cap.
A hung parliament has meant a significant change in the political climate and has provided us with a golden opportunity to win on pay. Already, a number of Conservative MPs have said public sector pay was an important issue for voters in the general election. Further, a post-election TUC poll showed that 76% of voters want to give public sector workers a pay rise – including 68% of Conservative voters which shows public opinion is on our side.
With 1% pay increases being imposed in the HM Revenue and Customs, the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice over the summer we must all come together to convince the government of our case. That is why PCS, along with the ATL, NUT and the UCU teaching unions, ASLEF and TSSA transport unions, the Fire Brigades Union, BFAWU, GMB, UNISION, Unite and the South Eastern Region of the TUC are calling for a massive turn out for this joint, union pay demonstration and rally in London ahead of the Autumn Budget.
LET’S MAKE SURE IT IS BIG SO OUR VOICES ARE HEARD.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are coming or want to get involved in activities to build for this important demonstration.
