HMPPS - Handling Surplus staff situations

Changes to the protocols for surplus staff have been implemented without agreement by PCS.

Members on the surplus list have been receiving correspondence from the employer regarding the implementation of changes to the protocols surrounding surplus staff.

It is clear that the changes to these protocols are linked to the changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme which were rejected by PCS members with a majority of 96%.

The letter unfortunately suggests without actually stating, that PCS has agreed to these new protocols.  In fact it is the opposite PCS and POA are mounting a legal challenge against their introduction.

Any member receiving a letter starting the process should contact their local rep immediately or email pcs@noms.gsi.gov.uk
