HMPPS - Response to statement on privatisation

21 Dec 2018

The Prisons Minister has confirmed that all new prisons will be run privately.

PCS expresses dismay at the statement from Rory Stewart, Prisons Minister, confirming that all new prisons including those on the former sites of HMP Wellingborough and HMP/YOI Glen Parva jails will be run privately.  There will be no public sector to bid to run either of them.  This is an appalling ideological assault on the public sector and is a slap in the face for our members who worked at those prisons and across HMPPS.

PCS will step our anti-privatisation campaign work in 2019. Why not get involved, become a PCS union Advocate today.
