On 24 May, one of the aviation group’s best and most liked reps, Keith Gilchrist, retired.
Keith was an ATSA at the NATS Heathrow branch, working as a Lighting Panel Operator. As a PCS rep with a huge 31 years of experience, Keith has been the key contact at Heathrow and has essentially represented all NATS workers on the airports side of the business on the ATM section executive committee since its inception.
Keith’s dedication, commitment and endeavour have been second to none, and all members in the group can be thankful that we can boast of reps of his calibre – he will of course be much missed, those are big boots to fill. Almost as important, Keith’s dry wit and laidback humour have been an essential component of many a meeting, and we will be poorer for not having that at future meetings. He leaves a great legacy for others to try and match.
Given the circumstances, we will arrange to say a proper goodbye, either at a special event we are hoping to arrange later this year, or at next year’s conference. In the meantime, the group offers its heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Keith as he (and his ever present ‘fruit based mobile device’) settle into a well-earned retirement, and possibly the challenge of home-schooling his two children. Cheers, Keith.
