Our first event to celebrate Black History Month will examine the implications of the Safety for Rwanda (Immigration and Asylum) Act 2024, passed after the recent general election, and how it intersects with the legacy of the Windrush generation.

The speakers will include Paul O’Connor, PCS chief of staff (industrial), Tracey Hylton national black members' committee vice-chair and Levoy Getton (national black members' committee and south-west rep).

Our guest speakers will discuss the impact of the Act on immigration, asylum, and the rights of migrants, with a particular focus on the lessons from the Windrush scandal and how unions can play a role in protecting workers’ rights and dignity.
