Building COP26 momentum with Climate Action Day at EFRA

Green reps in the PCS Efra group are organising a Climate Action Day on Friday 22 October.

With the UK government hosting the UN climate talks in Glasgow at the end of the month, it has never been more urgent to shine a light on the crucial struggles standing in the path of meeting the UK’s climate targets.

Our morning session asks what key struggles need to be won in the UK to tackle climate change. Gabrielle Jeliazkov from Platform London will speak about a just transition for North Sea oil and gas. Almuth Ernsting from Biofuelwatch will explore the impacts of large-scale industrial bioenergy. Tahir Latif from the Greener Jobs Alliance will discuss what a just transition means for workers in the Aviation sector.

Our afternoon session asks what we can do in our workplaces to progress the just transition to a zero carbon economy. Sam Mason, PCS national green officer, will explain how workers can engage with the civil society mobilisations around the COP26 UN climate talks in Glasgow. Anna Markova and Mika Minio-Paluello, climate officers at the TUC, will talk about how green reps can make a difference in their workplaces.

Build momentum for the COP26 UN climate talks

A global day of action is planned for 6 November to demand global leaders agree ambitious action on climate change at COP26. Actions are planned from Truro to Glasgow, from Newcastle to Norwich. You can find your local action and get in touch with your local COP26 Coalition hub using this handy map.
