CPS update following government update on easing of restrictions

The latest government announcement confirmed that the plans to ease lockdown restrictions will go ahead as planned on 19 July 2021.

PCS representatives have met with employer representatives to discuss the implications and impacts of the announcement. The joint position remains that health, safety and welfare is the key priority.

We are pleased to report that there is no change to the communicated position in terms of returns to offices. The current home working arrangements will continue to be supported over the summer months and we will continue to engage with the employer representatives to develop the future working proposals.

We recognise that a number of members have continued to attend workplaces in person due to operational requirements and appreciate that this has been challenging. Our position is that the current control measures and safeguards in place should continue regardless of the easing of lockdown restrictions.

We recognise the stress and uncertainty of the current situation and we are continuing to work with the employer to address members concerns.

The PCS Covid team remains available to support members:

  • Steve Thorley
  • Emma Herbert
  • Geoff Carr
  • Robert Blanks
  • Laura Bee, group secretary
