CWU shows great solidarity with £5,000 DVLA strike donation
Our members at the agency have been striking over health and safety issues on site in Swansea since March, with the latest round of action in the drivers’ medical section last month.
This donation takes the total hardship fund to over £52,500. This incredible gesture by one of our closest allies in the union movement, the CWU was greatly appreciated by our members at DVLA.
Support and solidarity like this gives confidence to members to carry on with their campaign.
PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka welcomed the donation and said: "This fantastic donation from the CWU, shows that support for our strike is still high with our friends in the union movement."
PCS has twice been on the verge of agreeing a deal to resolve the dispute only for it to be withdrawn at the last minute.
We are considering our plans for the next stage of the dispute, including the potential for a further ballot for strike action. This is happening in the context of rising cases on site, with cases last week surpassing 800 among DVLA staff, an increase of more than 150 since 16 August.
