DVLA strikers remain determined in second week of August action

The strike by PCS members in the drivers medical section of the DVLA remains resolute into the second consecutive week of a month of strike action in our ongoing workplace safety dispute.

The action continues to be well supported, with less than a third of those employed in drivers medical going into work. Backlogs continue to mount and are now in excess of a quarter of a million, and still more incoming post is unopened in crates. These backlogs will continue to put pressure on DVLA management, who continue to provoke members by talk of moving work off site rather than finding an agreed resolution to this strike. Support for the action has led to more than 50 new members joining our DVLA branch.

From tomorrow (11), the campaign at DVLA moves on to a further stage with the start of a consultative ballot on further action. Members will have until 3 September to vote, to demonstrate their continued support for the campaign. This ballot will again heap more pressure on DVLA management.
