Holocaust Memorial Day 27 January 2022

HMD is the day for everyone to remember the Holocaust and genocides. The theme this year is One Day.

27 January 2022 marks Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD), the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust under Nazi persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Every year trade unions, community groups, faith groups and many others organise events to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, coordinated through the charity Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.

Support HMD 2022

The theme for HMD2022 is “One Day”. The objective of this theme is to educate and remember individual days in history, for example 19 April 1943 when the Jewish inhabitants of the Warsaw Ghetto fought back against the nazi regime.

An international HMD 2022 ceremony will be held on 27 January from 7pm and streamed live. Find out how you can take part. In addition PCS branches and members are encouraged to organise or support events.

Guides, free resources and details of events around the UK and internationally can be found through the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust website. Hashtags for use on social media are #HolocaustMemorialDay and #LightTheDarkness.
