OCS makes derisory and insulting pay offer

PCS members working as security officers on the HMCTS contract have been given the details of the pay offer.

Our members are expected to deliver a front-line service but are not awarded the pay they deserve. It is a disgrace that OCS is proposing a base pay increase of just 16p an hour above the National Living Wage minimum. In the communication to all employees OCS claims that the increase exceeds the rate of inflation; this is a lie. The increase falls woefully short of what our members deserve and continues the unacceptable position of poverty pay on the contract.

OCS must now table an offer that meets the real living wage as defined by the Living Wage Foundation.

The PCS demands are clear and achievable:

  • A cost-of-living rise
  • £500 consolidated increase
  • Full occupational sick pay from day one
  • An additional day of annual leave
  • Overtime rate of time and a quarter for weekdays
  • Paid time off for medical appointments
  • Full pay for Covid absence
  • 5 days paid dependency leave
  • 5 days paid bereavement leave.

These demands are nothing short of what our members deserve.

It is inevitable that if OCS fails to table an improved pay offer, then we will move to serve a formal trade dispute notice.
