PCS to ballot DVSA members for strike action over new 8-test schedule
PCS has served notice on the DVSA of the intention to ballot driving examiner and driving test centre manager members for industrial action on the issue of the 8-test schedule.
The agency wants to introduce the extra test as part of a range of measures to deal with the backlog of tests that has arisen as a result of Covid. PCS is concerned about the impact that the extra test would have on examiners’ performance, health, safety, well-being and welfare, as well as the impact on examiners on part-time contracts.
The ballot will launch on 6 September and run for three weeks, closing at noon on 24 September. The ballot is statutory and therefore will be postal, with voting packs sent to members’ home addresses. Please check your details are up to date via PCS Digital.
We will be holding a series of members’ meetings to discuss the ballot and its implications. Look out for details soon.
