Strike in the Royal Parks to go ahead from Monday

In the absence of progress with the employer, members will start their strike action on 16 August, to continue until 30 August.

The strike by members employed by Just Ask Services in the Royal Parks is over six issues, the key ones being possible staffing cuts later this year and winning the same sick pay as staff who are directly employed by the Royal Parks.

PCS met with the employer on 12 August and later that day the employer wrote to us asking for the planned strike to be postponed, to give them time to work up future staffing plans that they would discuss with PCS.

However, at a members' meeting, members said they believed that the company had had enough time to work those plans out, and that waiting until 9 September was in fact a ploy to get them to work over the busiest time of year in the parks. They therefore voted to continue with the two weeks of strike action as planned.

PCS is paying strike pay but we need to top this up with fund raising. Please give what you can through the Crowdfunder website.
