Support our action to keep offices open in MHCLG

We have launched an e-action calling on the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to reconsider plans to close six regional offices.

PCS members who work for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are concerned that local expertise will be lost because of the closure of the six offices in Birmingham, Exeter, Newcastle, Sheffield, Warrington and Truro; and about the impact this will have on jobs and services that MHCLG delivers.

At the same time the department is seeking to introduce restrictions on recruitment and continues to implement a 60% office attendance mandate.

We believe that moving these jobs will have a detrimental impact in some of the most deprived areas in the country.  It will also negatively impact the department’s ability to deliver on important issues such as rebuilding local government, tackling homelessness and providing safe affordable housing.

It asks for MPs' support and for the Right Hon Angela Rayner MP to intervene in keeping the regional offices open.
