Support our DBS members on strike

PCS members at the Disclosure and Barring Service in Liverpool will be out on strike for two days next week.

PCS members working at the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) in Liverpool are in dispute over the imposition of a new customer contact system.

Over 50 PCS members working for the DBS are to take two weeks’ industrial action in the run-up to Christmas. This includes two days of walk-outs next week. The strike action is likely to affect people requiring DBS checks for their employment as our members routinely help customers with email queries about their DBS check, help with barring referral disputes, and deal with complaints from the public,

A picket line will be held on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 December at Shannon Court, 10 Princes Parade, Liverpool L3 1QY from 7am to 11am. We encourage all PCS members, trade unionists and members of the public in Liverpool to visit the picket line to show support.

Introduced without consultation, the new customer contact system, "Max Contact" not only forces members to carry out work they’ve not been required to do before, but has also been beset by early technical problems and will fail to offer customers the resolutions they need.

The two-day strike next week will be followed by all members in the Customer Services team taking action short of a strike from December 9 to 24.
