Welcome to the new PCS website built with members in mind

Welcome to the new PCS website, which has been built to be more relevant and engaging for all members wherever they work.

It is a massive improvement on the old site, which members and reps often struggled to navigate and find the information that was relevant to them. Overwhelmingly members come to the PCS website to find their reps’ contact details and now they can do this much more easily by logging into PCS Digital using the PCS Digital button on the main navigation menu towards the top of the page and also by clicking the Find My Rep link on the pre-footer menu towards the foot of the page. The search function is also much improved and far more responsive.

Some of the content has been migrated to PCS Knowledge, which will continue to grow as an online resource for our activists. It already contains the essential reps’ handbook Law At Work and more resources are being added regularly.

You might have noticed that some features like where I work have been replaced. Our members told us they wanted to be able to find the news that is relevant to them on the site within 3 clicks and we have delivered on that wish.

All news is now in one section – there used to be more than 60 individual group news pages – and visitors can personalise their news list based on employer, region and interest through a filter on the news page comprising 3 options – where you work, where you live and interests.

We represent members employed by more than 400 employers so this is a faster, more dynamic way for site visitors to find the news that is relevant to them, written in concise, jargon-free, and easy to understand English.

You can view news from the biggest PCS employer groups online collected together in these links:

Different levels

In terms of structure there are 3 levels to the new site.

On level 1 there is a tile with an accompanying summary which when clicked leads to a level 2 page of text with helpful information for the site visitor, which then often leads to a level 3 page which can either be another web page or a page in Knowledge.

Drop-down menus

Another new feature are the drop-down menus which allow visitors to view the contents list for a section before clicking.

We hope you find the innovations we have made on the new site are beneficial, so you can find the information and help you need more easily.

We welcome your feedback, which can be sent by emailing web@pcs.org.uk
