What's On? 13 September - 19 September

Next week, PCS is running a series of courses for PCS Advocates and reps. If you're looking to get more involved in your union or brush up your skills, then these are the courses for you.

DVSA ballot - how to vote

PCS is balloting driving examiner members for industrial action on the issue of the 8-test schedule. The ballot opens on 6 September and closes at noon on 24 September.

Because the ballot is statutory it will be postal, with voting packs sent to members’ home addresses.

Ballot papers will be posted on Monday 6 September; you should allow until Thursday 9 September to receive the original before requesting a replacement.

The last date to request a replacement ballot paper is 12 noon on Friday 17 September.

By-Election for ordinary members of the EFRA group executive committee

The group elections that took place earlier this year left five ordinary member vacancies on the EFRA GEC.

Please encourage anyone interested to seek a nomination, as a full GEC is essential to work with and for the branches and members of the PCS Efra group.

There are no specific skills needed to be a GEC member, although a bit of enthusiasm and time is obviously a help. Mentoring and training will be provided for anyone elected to the role.

Tune in to People’s Assembly rally 12 September

PCS is supporting the People’s Assembly pre-TUC Rally at noon on 12 September, which will hear from leading trade unionists and social movement campaigners about how our movement must prepare to respond to the attacks of the Tories.

Join the PCS pension fightback at TUC Congress

PCS reps and advocates are invited to attend our ‘Pensions fightback’ fringe meeting during the virtual TUC Congress from 12.30pm on 14 September.

The event will be chaired by PCS President Fran Heathcote and speakers include our general secretary Mark Serwotka, Rachel Hopkins MP, with others to be confirmed. A PCS striker from DVLA Swansea will also speak.

Our TUC Congress fringe meeting gives reps and advocates the chance to come together to build our campaign for fairer pensions for PCS members.

Please publicise this meeting and encourage fellow reps and activists to sign up.
