What's On? 18 October - 24 October

Next week, PCS is running a series of courses for PCS Advocates. If you're looking to get more involved in your union then these are the courses for you.

DVSA staff to strike over safety concerns next week

Driving examiners will take 2 days strike action next week over a new unsafe testing regime being introduced by DVSA.

Up to 1000 PCS members will take to picket lines on Monday because bosses are pushing for new 8 test-a day regime.

Staff at DVSA say the new approach to deal with the Covid backlog is unsafe and likely to lead to more failed tests.

PCS demands in DVLA dispute and what could resolve it

In the ballot, which ends on 10 November, we are asking members whether they will be prepared to take part in strike action and action short of a strike to win the dispute that has been ongoing since February.

How you can help

  • Sign the e-action. PCS has an e-action which asks transport secretary Grant Shapps to positively intervene.
  • Messages of solidarity. Write a message of support for our DVLA members by emailing responseteam@pcs.org.uk

Just Ask strikers protest at Royal Parks half marathon

Members employed by Just Ask Services are on strike over terms and conditions and pay, which are inferior to those of colleagues who are employed directly by the Royal Parks. They have taken 16 days of strike action since 31 July and are now on strike for the whole of October.

The key to a stronger PCS is greater participation by members in the day-to-day running of the union at the local level. If you are willing to help out a little come along to this session to talk about how you can play a role in your union as a workplace advocate.
