Why we are joining the TUC demo on 18 June

PCS members have been sharing why they are joining the TUC demo in London on 18 June.

PCS members will be joining hundreds of thousands of other workers on the demo to demand that the government takes action over the cost-of-living crisis and to oppose the massive civil service job cuts.

Members have shared why they are getting involved.

For Craig it’s about showing who keeps the country running: “At a time when we are barely represented in parliament or the media, these events are essential reminders that people like us, who get up every morning to go and earn a wage, form the overwhelming majority in this country.”

As the cost of living rockets with inflation at 9% and the government aiming to cut 91,000 civil service jobs, for Jordan it’s an opportunity to show our collective anger.

“The TUC rally is a great opportunity to show anger around the cost-of-living crisis, worsening terms and conditions and the threat of 91k redundancies,” he said.

Tracey wants to show her solidarity with fellow union members across the movement.

“I want to stand up to the government in solidarity with other unions against the cost-of-living crisis,” she said.
