Following the prime minister’s announcement to lift the Plan B Covid restrictions, the DWP has followed suit in effectively lifting Covid-related safety measures for staff and jobcentre claimants, increasing the risk to our members and the public.

The UK government has scrapped Covid plan B restrictions in England. Mask wearing will no longer be mandatory in certain settings and the ‘work from home if you can’ message has been dropped.

PCS believes it is irresponsible for the DWP to choose this moment to try to force a mass return to workplaces for staff currently working from home, as scientists make it clear that Covid-19 still poses a very serious risk to public health.
