News
PCS members have pledged to press on with their campaign of combining targeted and all-member strike action to keep pressure on the government and ultimately win justice on pay, pensions and job security.
PCS president Fran Heathcote opened conference with a tribute to outgoing general secretary Mark Serwotka.
In a debate at its group conference today, DWP reps agreed to re-ballot members for strike action after narrowly missing the 50% legal threshold in the most recent ballot.
During the tenure of the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government, an attack was launched on PCS through the removal of the check-off facility via which members paid their subscriptions to the union.
A timetable for the election of the next PCS General Secretary has been agreed by our national executive committee following the announcement that Mark Serwotka is to retire on 31 January.
