Against a backdrop of almost 1 in 3 HMRC staff needing an uplift earlier this month, just to keep in touch with minimum rates of pay across the civil service, you should make sure you play your part in the PCS campaign for fair pay, pensions and jobs
Several MPs – including members of the PCS Parliamentary Group – slammed proposed laws on minimum service levels at a parliamentary committee on Monday (27).
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has threatened to get staffing back to pre-pandemic levels by cutting 66,000 civil service jobs; but in HMRC, the second largest department, our headcount is only around 2,500 higher than in early 2020.
We have announced a fresh wave of strikes in a significant escalation of our dispute over pay, pensions, redundancy terms and job security, including 5 weeks’ strike action at the Passport Offices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
All 4 of the areas balloted in the latest PCS industrial action ballots have returned yes votes for action as part of our national campaign on pay, pensions, changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme and jobs.
