Hundreds of PCS members working at Heathrow airport will strike for 4 days from 29 April in response to the Home Office imposing a new roster that would see around 250 members forced out of their role on passport control.
PCS has condemned the government for promising to rush through anti-strike laws which would effectively criminalise strike action for thousands of our Home Office members in the Border Force and the Passport Office.
We have announced a fresh wave of strikes in a significant escalation of our dispute over pay, pensions, redundancy terms and job security, including 5 weeks’ strike action at the Passport Offices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
All 4 of the areas balloted in the latest PCS industrial action ballots have returned yes votes for action as part of our national campaign on pay, pensions, changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme and jobs.
PCS has promised to fight tooth and nail attempts by government to place further restrictions on unions’ ability to strike following revelations in The Observer that ministers considered banning Border Force workers from taking industrial action.
