Plans to fight the government’s 91,000 civil service job cuts with a concerted campaign including possible strike action were unanimously backed by PCS conference delegates.

Industrial action works, and inspires others to stand up and say ‘enough is enough’, said the chair of the PCS parliamentary group as he delivered the group’s annual report to conference the day after delegates agreed to ballot over pay and pensions.

PCS will immediately begin working towards holding a national statutory ballot on industrial action this autumn over members’ pay, pensions and redundancy terms in the UK civil service and related public sector areas.
