Industrial action works, and inspires others to stand up and say ‘enough is enough’, said the chair of the PCS parliamentary group as he delivered the group’s annual report to conference the day after delegates agreed to ballot over pay and pensions.

PCS will immediately begin working towards holding a national statutory ballot on industrial action this autumn over members’ pay, pensions and redundancy terms in the UK civil service and related public sector areas.

Following the announcement of of 91,000 job cuts in the civil service over the next three years, Defra has announced it is imposing a recruitment freeze for 3 months in Defra, RPA, APHA, VMD, CEFAS as well as potentially in FC and OFWAT.
