Get your questions ready for PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka for our next pay-themed Facebook Live event at 7pm on 21 January.
We are currently consulting members on the next steps in our pay campaign at regional briefings and online. And the Facebook Live event, due to be chaired by our acting president Fran Heathcote, is your chance to hear the latest from Mark on the pay campaign and its aims for 2019 and get your questions answered.
You can play your part in the event by emailing your question in advance, including Facebook Live question in the subject line, to email@example.com and then heading over to our Facebook page on the night. You can also ask a question live on the night.
The event builds on the success of our previous Facebook Live events, which have reached more than 100,000 people on the social media platform and which have been viewed by tens of thousands of people. As ever it is your involvement that guarantees the success of the event.
The PCS national executive committee has agreed a campaign strategy for our 2019 pay campaign. NEC members agreed to:
- Launch a mass consultation, including an online questionnaire, on our pay campaign
- To campaign politically to put the pressure on ministers and departmental heads.
- Hold an industrial action ballot, if it's required, to ensure we can force the government to think again and negotiate a fair, equal and above-inflation pay increase across the civil service.
The NEC wants all branches, groups, equality forums and members to take part in our online consultation on our civil service pay strategy for 2019, which runs until 25 January and for as many members as possible to take part in the regional pay briefings and rallies running from 14 January into early February.
A special NEC will take place in early February 2019 to consider the results of the consultation and take final decisions on the campaign for 2019.
So get involved and have your say.
