PCS members who are contracted catering staff working at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) are striking for three days from Monday (8) in a dispute over pay.
The staff who work for contractor Aramark are angry at their demands for the London Living Wage (LLW) of £10.55 an hour being repeatedly ignored.
PCS has strongly argued that the contractors should pay the LLW and that BEIS should be putting pressure on the contractors to do so.
We believes the scandal of low pay and poor conditions is caused by outsourcing and we are campaigning to bring these services back in-house.
PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka, who will join pickets on Wednesday (10), said: “It shows the tenacity of our members that they are taking three days’ strike action over low pay. But it also shows the disgraceful attitude of Aramark and BEIS that they are allowing some of the hardest working members of their department to suffer in poverty.
“This strike action shows our members will not be ignored and the union stands full square behind them as they fight for pay justice.”
Show your support on picket lines which form at 7am on Monday outside the BEIS building at 1 Victoria Street, Westminster, SW1H 0ET, and which Mark will join at noon on Wednesday.
