PCS members in the DVLA took part in a hugely successful strike action, gathering public support. We are now seeking urgent talks with DVLA management.
Last week (6-9 April), PCS members at the DVLA took unprecedented action against their employer over health and safety concerns at the DVLA site. Over 1,400 members, who are being made to work on the site which has seen over 600 positive cases since September 2020, took strike action, leaving the site deserted.
The action had a huge impact and gained support from across the country and the trade unions, the labour movement and members of the public.
At our strike rally on Friday (9), we were joined by speakers including TUC General Secretary, Frances O’Grady, and labour law expert, John Hendy QC, who both spoke in support of striking PCS members.
We are now seeking an urgent resumption of talks with the Department for Transport and the DVLA. We will hold a member meeting early next week to discuss next steps with our members.
