We want every PCS branch to take part in a consultation on our political strategy and have their say on what political campaigning work we currently undertake.
In October, we launched a consultation on all aspects of the union’s political strategy, inviting responses from branches and groups, as set out in motion A36 passed by
conference earlier this year.
The consultation is looking in particular at:
- Make Your Vote Count
- Devolved areas
- Standing and supporting candidates policy, and
- Relations with the Labour party.
In light of the recent CSCS ballot, and in response to feedback from branches and groups, the deadline for responses to the consultation has been extended to Friday, 6 January.
We hope this will allow branches the necessary time to comment and contribute to the future of PCS’s political strategy and enable our union to deliver more for members.
Express your views
Branches and groups do not have to respond to every point or to every section, but are encouraged to use this opportunity to express their views and share experiences of what has worked, and what could be done better to make our union more effective. The consultation booklet (opens as PDF) includes further information.
A report on the consultation will be published in early 2017, once the responses have been collated, and a debate will take place at our annual conference in that year.
