Palace staff to protest over cuts

21 Sep 2020

PCS members will be protesting outside Hampton Court Palace tomorrow (22) against mass redundancies and cuts to terms and conditions.

PCS members will be protesting (socially distanced) outside Hampton Court Palace at 11:00 a.m. until about 12:30.  The address details are: Hampton Court Way, Molesey, East Molesey KT8 9AU.

The members work as heads of departments, Yeoman Warders, and in admissions, security, retail, IT and conservation, provide essential services to ensure that visitors to some of Britain’s most iconic buildings have the best possible experience

Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) intend to make 146 redundancies at the following locations:

  • 57 at Hampton Court Palace
  • 47 at Hillsborough Castle
  • 20 at Tower of London
  • 21 at Kensington Palace.

HRP are also planning to slash members' terms and conditions by annualising hours, introducing compulsory overtime and removing many existing allowances. These measures will significantly reduce the income of our members.

Messages of solidarity can be sent to culture@pcs.org.uk and you can follow details of the campaign on the Justice4HRPworkers Facebook page.
