PCS email campaign continues in advance of budget statement

10 Oct 2018

PCS calls on chancellor Philip Hammond to commit to a fully funded pay rise and investment in civil service in the budget on 29 October.

Following the success of our ‘Tell Hammond’ campaign at this year’s TUC and Labour Party conferences we’re calling on members across the UK to complete the online form supporting our calls for investment in our public services and a pay rise for civil servants across government departments.

Civil servants have suffered at the hands of the Tories for more than 8 years with over 180,000 jobs lost, pay frozen, pensions attacked and basic trade union rights slashed. We are calling on the government to end austerity now, support families, the vulnerable and workers, invest in services and fund a decent, fair and above inflation wage rise.

In early September, PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka wrote to Philip Hammond detailing the concerns of members regarding job security, pay and cuts to services; the chancellor has yet to respond. The email campaign is an opportunity for members to urge the Chancellor to listen!

The chancellor will deliver his budget statement on 29 October and debates relating to announcements within the statement will take place in the four days following his speech.

Members can join the campaign by completing the online form.
