PCS today (22) welcomed the commitment from Jon Trickett on behalf of the Labour party that Labour in government would take a new approach to PFI and the privatisation of government and public services.
In the wake of the latest PFI disaster, last week's collapse of Carillion, PCS called for all of the company's public sector contracts to be taken in-house.
Mark Serwotka PCS General Secretary said: “PCS has been warning successive governments for years of the failings of privatisation from Concentrix in HMRC to the Forensic Science Service, alongside the wholescale privatisation of back-office services. Our public services are struggling to cope after years of funding cuts and privatisation has created further chaos. Any government which brings these contracts back in house will have our support.”
