We’re calling on our members and supporters to complete our web form to email chancellor Philip Hammond to support our call a TUC in Manchester for investment and security for our public services.
Eight years of austerity have pushed public services to breaking point and we believe the chancellor should start to redress the balance by committing to invest in public services in his November budget. Across the public sector our members see this both as frontline workers across the civil service and as service users in the NHS, local government and education.
In the civil service we are no exception. We have suffered service cuts and pay restraint. Our members are doing more and getting paid less, with worse pensions. From the people who pay your benefits and pensions to the people who collect the tax we need, from the staff who operate our courts to the ones who take you on a driving test. All these staff and more are operating in a cuts environment.
We launched our email campaign to the chancellor on the opening day of TUC in Manchester where visitors to our stall can send a message to chancellor Philip Hammond ahead of the budget.
Send your message to him using the hashtag #PCSTellHammond
Message to Hammond
At our Congress stall at Manchester Central Convention Complex, visitors are able to send a message to chancellor Philip Hammond ahead of the budget, using our e-action, which we will be launching on Sunday, and they can even pose for a selfie with him (well, a life-size cut-out) and one of our photo opp cards.
If you’re not at Manchester Central you can follow PCS news from TUC, which runs until Wednesday (12) lunchtime, in our TUC daily reports section, through our Twitter account and by following the hashtags #PCSTUC18 and #PCSTellHammond
