84% vote in favour of strike action by PCS operational members at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in a dispute over travel time, the new driving test and other changes to flexible working.
PCS believes this result will send a clear message to the DVSA that they must think again on forcing people to work longer, harder and for no pay. It is not acceptable to send people off to roadside checks and other workplaces without including the journey in their working time and without allowing them to go to their contractual usual workplace first.
PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka stated: “The actions of the Department for Transport in trying to force detrimental changes on to our members has backfired. Members have sent a clear signal that these changes are unacceptable. Its time now for ministers to listen to this result and scrap these plans.”
