PCS national conference runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday (13) and Monday (14) and members and reps can watch from home and hear motions debated by logging into PCS Digital.

Are you an EU, EEA or Swiss national?

If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June, 2021.

DVLA dispute

PCS has served notice of further strike action at the DVLA. The walkout has been called to press DVLA management into an agreement and to end the dispute over Covid health and safety. PCS is calling all contact centre members, whether working on site or from home, to take strike action from Monday 7 June to Saturday (12). This is in addition to the strike action from 2-5 June. Other members can help by signing the e-action or donating to the strike fund.

PCS Advocates - Introductory course - Wales and South West

15 June: 12-1pm

The key to a stronger PCS is greater participation by members in the day-to-day running of the union at the local level. If you are willing to help out a little come along to this session to talk about how you can play a role in your union as a workplace advocate.

Workplace Reps: Essential Building Blocks - North West

15 - 20 June

This course is aimed at newly-appointed reps and union advocates. It will give you the skills and knowledge to effectively represent your members, covering organising, campaigning, negotiating, equality, and more. The course covers essential approaches and techniques that underpin effective organising and bargaining set in the context of the contemporary trade union movement. This includes the role of the union rep in building the strength of the union, communications, effective negotiations and planning.

Health and Safety Reps (Part 1) - North West

15 - 29 June: 10am-4pm

Everyone has the right to a safe workplace. Every employer has a duty not to make us ill as a result of going to work. Trade unions have worked hard to deliver the comprehensive health and safety legislation that the UK workforce enjoys. However governments and employers try to undermine the gains we’ve made. This course will help you mount campaigns to ensure PCS members have protection from stress-inducing, presentee-ism fixated employers…through a strong, well organised union.

Mental Health in the Workplace - Scotland and Northern Ireland

15 - 16 June: 10am-4pm

Stress, depression or anxiety are now the greatest cause of work absence in the UK. In January 2018 a ministerial response revealed in parliament that 26% of all sickness absence in the civil service was due to mental health conditions. Our training can give you the knowledge and confidence to help members to challenge where policies may be being breached or employers are unaware of employment rights, and to campaign for good mental health in the workplace.
