We are determined to win our campaign for DWP jobs, services and communities
This week we have been lobbying MPs about the DWP’s office closure programme. (https://www.pcs.org.uk/campaigns/campaign-dwp-jobs-services-communities) These closures will have a devastating impact on our members' jobs, the services that they provide for the public and the communities that they serve. 5 jobcentres have also been announced for closure, which will have a devastating impact on local communities and their economies.
Our group executive committee is at the forefront of campaigning to oppose the office closures and protect our members' jobs and the services that they provide.
The campaign has got off to a great start, but our members are suffering untold poverty through the ongoing cost-of-living crisis - you're expected to do more for less - and now their jobs are at threat. Up to 3,000 jobs could be lost as a result of these office closures, but we aim to not only protect and defend and win our members' jobs but ensure the service that they provide will remain within DWP, and within DWP services.
Play your part
We must stop this office closure programme at all costs, and branches, will be consulting members in the coming weeks about what they are prepared to do as part of this campaign.
Our members have already lobbied their MP, sent letters to local authorities and local councillors, and described the impact of the closures on them.
The next phase is to see if we can build to an industrial platform to oppose these office closures. So please get behind the campaign. This is about jobs. It's about services and it's about local communities.

We will use your comments on social media and in web articles but will change your name.
Also get in touch if you are part of a campaign in your area against the closure of one of the offices, to tell us how you are fighting the plans.
We also need all PCS members to sign our petition (http://www.pcs.org.uk/petitiondwp) against the DWP plans and use our e-action (http://www.pcs.org.uk/dwpmp) to ask their MP to support our campaign.
