With galleries and museums set to open from this week, PCS hase confirmed many staff working at these sites will only recieve SSP for self isolating. This is a potential public health crisis and makes our museums and galleries less safe for staff and visitors alike.
The PCS culture group will holds a day of online action on 8 July stepping up our campaign demanding emergency funding to avert the crisis in the culture sector.
The museum was forced back round the table in direct response to visitor services and security (VSS) members taking part in a successful indicative ballot for strike action as a result of plans to cut breaks from 1 July as part of the VSS review.
On 25 June the Royal Households announced that in the Royal Collections Trust they want to reduce the wage bill by 20% and cut employers’ pensions contributions from 15% to 8%. This will mean significant job cuts, as well as reduced pensions for PCS members. Additionally they have imposed a pay freeze.
