PCS members in International House to take industrial action over plans to close their office.
PCS members based in HMRC’s International House in Ealing have voted overwhelmingly for strike action and action short of a strike, in opposition to the department’s plans to close their office - plans which are putting members in the office at serious risk of redundancy.
The closure plans are part of the department's ill-considered 'Building Our Future' programme, which has already resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of years of tax experience.
Members in International House comfortably broke through the minimum 50% turnout demanded by the government’s latest, vindictive anti-union law; with more than four out of five (84.1%) voting members choosing to strike, and a massive 94.6% of those members voting for action short of a strike - including an overtime ban.
The branch is now discussing its next steps with the PCS national disputes committee.
