Union Meeting with Sadiq Khan
The Mayor was joined by the newly created London Night Czar, Amy Lame, who gave a presentation on her role.
One of the themes of the meeting was to discuss the importance of the museum, heritage, arts, leisure and cultural sector to London - to the cultural enrichment of Londoners, the numbers of people employed in the sector and its importance to London's economy.
We made representations about the need for minimum standards across the sector, in particular over the London Living Wage and two-tier workforces.
We also emphasised that PCS (and other unions) are important stakeholders in the sector and that our members have a wealth of experience and knowledge to be utilised.
We agreed to set up a further meeting with the Deputy Mayor, with particular responsibility for culture, and we will look to make this a more formal arrangement to allow us to discuss issues in more detail.
