Eastern regional committee

The committee's key function is the co-ordination of the regional centre's work on PCS's regional priorities:

  • Recruitment
  • Organisation
  • Education
  • Campaigns based on national strategies and conference policy.

The committee is elected at the annual general meeting by branch delegates representing members from across the union in the eastern region. View details of the 2017/18 eastern regional committee.

Meetings

We hold committee meetings every September, December and March and an annual general meeting (AGM) in June.

The next meeting will be on Friday 15 December.

Meetings are held at the Peterborough Regional Office from 11am until 2pm with lunch provided.

Each branch with members in the Eastern region is entitled to send one observer from those members to each committee meeting – please note that travel costs must be paid by the branch and should be included in the annual bid for funds.

Any member nominated to attend by their branch as an observer should contact the Eastern regional office at eastern@pcs.org.uk as space is limited and in order to be included in the catering or to advise if there are any special requirements.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM of the committee is held in June each year.  The last annual general meeting was be held on Tuesday 27 June 2017 at the Peterborough Friends Meeting House.

Each branch can nominate a voting delegate to attend and may also send an observer. Delegate travel and subsistence costs are paid from the regional committee budget, but observers must be paid for from branch funds.

Committee history

The committee was first set up in 2004. The committee is governed by a set of rules (constitution) which is approved by the national committee of the union. Read the PCS eastern regional committee constitution.
