Civil Service Learning was launched in April 2011 and became fully functional in April 2012. The purpose of Civil Service Learning is to enable the development of Civil Service Capability through providing learning and development opportunities to staff.
There is a wide range of free online courses available to everyone, under three key headings of Working in the Civil Service, Leadership and Management and Core Skills, with colour coded areas to help people find their way around the system. There is also information about face to face courses, (though staff will need the support of their manager to access this type of training).
Other resources available to everyone under personal development include a wide range of options looking at work/life balance, exploring key strengths, skills, and helping people to manage their personal learning goals and opportunities.
There is also online access to academic and business journals which will not only help people develop their professional skills, but is also helpful for anyone doing research to keep up with the latest thinking in the business world – not just Civil Service.
We are asking all ULRs to familiarise themselves with the new Civil Service portal and encourage their members to access the training opportunities that are available to them via the Civil Service Learning portal.
