Structure and Organisation

PCS is a democratic union, run by members for members.

In Northern Ireland we have one major body overseeing the union's work: the Regional Committee for Ireland. The Committee is made up of lay activists representing branches across Northern Ireland.

The Committee is elected annually at the PCS Regional Committee for Ireland annual general meeting. This was last held on 19 June 2015.

Members of the Committee oversee the strategic priorities of PCS Northern Ireland and receive reports from full-time officers and Senior Officials on organising, learning, campaigning and external relations.

The committee also co-ordinates PCS Northern Ireland’s work with the Northern Ireland Assembly, Westminster, Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) and NI/ Irish based bodies and institutions, sister unions and organisations to which PCS is affiliated.

It also advises on the priorities for PCS Northern Ireland in recruitment, organisation, learning services and education within the national PCS strategies.
